Oh, Oh, Noooooooooooooooo

6/27/2012

So last night I was Photoshopping some pictures for my website. Suddenly my Mac made a grindy-crunchy sound that scared me so much that I pushed away from my desk real fast and then the screen went black. I thought that it was going to explode. I quickly turned my wall switch off and calmed myself down.  I then unplugged everything hooked up to the Mac leaving only the keyboard; I also unplugged the power cord and let it sit for a half hour.   I then plugged the cord back in and pressed the power button on the back of the Mac. NOTHING
Initially I thought the HD had died. Then I realized that it must be the power supply because I did not hear the familiar fan sound that it makes when I turn my Mac on.

I then pulled out my iPad and searched for an independent local Mac repair person – and I found one that makes free house calls. I left VM for him and followed up with an email. He called me back this morning and he concurs that it probably is the power supply. Unfortunately he is in Vegas on vacation and won’t be back until next week. He said he could get another local person on it if I HAD to have it fixed ASAP and I said that with my iPad I could hold on. So next week he contact me and we will set up a time for him to come over and he will bring a new PS. Then I thought that while he has it open, I might as well upgrade my memory since I don't have a lot and when I have iTunes, Photoshop, and several other apps open at the same time the machine can really bog down.

I figure IF it is really really dead (in case the HD failed), then I might be asking  getting a new iMac:   I know I  could just put a new HD in but the Mac is over 5 years old  and I would just sell it on ebay at that point. Though I don't really want to be spending at least a week of evening restoring all my stuff from the backups I have - yes I have an external HD and I use time machine to make my backups.

Who is the guy I called? Here is link http://bradfordredding.com/  Yes, he called me back while he was on vacation. That is good service!

One Rep Weave Done, Starting Another

6/23/2012

I finished my rep weave project down at the barn about two weeks ago. Yuko, my weaving buddy at the barn, assisted in the winding of the warp, threading and the weaving. We ended up with 6 place mats.  They are currently for sale at the barn. You can buy either a group of 4 or just 2 or all 6.

It is a 2 block pattern and they were woven on 2 shafts at 24 threads per inch.

Now I am starting another set of rep weave place mats. These new ones will be woven on 8 shafts, with 30 threads per inch and will be 4 blocks. I will be able two weave three different patterns by just changing the lift pattern with the same tie-up. I am planning on 16 place mats - a group of 8 and two groups of 4.  Here is set up pictures for the time being.

What Did They Do?

Playing with da fishie

6/19/2012

This is now our morning ritual.

I come downstairs, from getting ready for work, Erich is still packing my lunch so I take the fish on an elastic string (cost $3 at Walmart) and I drag it along the floor and make it “disappear”.  Boots then pounces on it and when she lets go I flip it into the air and she jumps and well, you get the picture.

Quite recently she has started to roll onto her back and play with it that way. I don’t understand why she holds it in her front paws and then uses her back paws to poke and scrape/claw/punch it. It must be an instinctual thing so she could “kill” or rip open her pray that she caught. Have you ever seen this???
