Temari Lesson 4

I am now two-thirds of the way done with the lessons for Level 1 Part 1. 

This lesson was focused on the 5 Pointed Start and continuous stitching or hito hude gake which is "one stroke of the brush".  

Here is what I learned:

• While continuous stitching isn't that hard, not getting lost is. I used colored pins to mark the order of the star points to be stitched - white, red, orange, yellow, green. 
• I always used a silver headed pin to mark the point where the thread ended so I knew where to start the new length of thread.
• Measure, measure, measure otherwise your star will not be symmetrical and be skewed, so like I learned last week - don't go too far if it is really off; undo it and get it correct!
• I now make a smaller temari to practice the "technique" on. In the long run there is less time spent winding and stitching and learning (and undoing); if the design doesn't come out correctly and want to give it all up and start over.
