I was looking at my stats today and I see that someone entered a query about where to purchase roman glass. So here is where I bought mine... I have known Avi for almost 20 years, I have bought jewelry from him and I have assisted him in his booth at the San Diego County Fair.

Looked at Avi's page. I am looking for quality fragments with good patina. Needed soon. I left a message for him. Do you have any other leads for quality roman glass fragments. It would be most helpful.

Do you ever shape the glass you use? Is it like cutting new glass, or do you have to use a different technique? I want to shape fragments into round and oval cabochons for bezel setting.

Yes you can shape it. I use a rubberized grit wheel (Advantage from Rio) to shape and remove sharp edges. Be careful when doing a bezel setting, too much pressure can crack the glass if it is thin

My wife does custom jewelry, I do lapidary work. We are looking for roman glass pieces to incorporate into jewelry. Any ideas on where to purchase ? Comments are closed.
